Subbuteo is a very cheap game to play.  Players generally like to have teams painted in their favourite colours and Subbuteoworld (follow the link<<) have a large selection.  Teams start from around £8 each.  Goalkeepers are generally sold separately to the teams and cost around £8.  Armed with a team and a goalkeeper, you are ready to play in any of the tournaments held around the country.

 

 

Joining a club like Yorkshire Phoenix gives you access to top quality playing stadia (as above) supplied by the San Siro Stadia Company. We organise a number of events, from low intensity fun club nights to the testing International Satellite event, which has been held at Headingley, Elland Road and Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium in the past three years.

 

Yorkshire Phoenix’ flagship competition is the Superleague, which is held over three meetings, usually in September, March and April each year.  In 2006/07, Phoenix also ran a First Division and a Conference League, the latter mainly consisting of players new to the game.

 

In common with many other clubs in the UK –and, indeed, throughout Europe – Yorkshire Phoenix run one day competitions, where competitors start in groups before progressing (or not!) to the knock-out stages.  Competitions like these commit the player to one day only and can fit in with any busy lifestyle.

 

Schools

 

Whilst we cannot undertake to run leagues within schools, we can offer support and guidance to teachers who wish to do so.  School leagues offer opportunities to incorporate learning into organised recreation and such subjects as maths, English and geography can be transferred from the classroom to a practical and fun environment.

 

Special Events

 

Nothing generates excitement like a football based event and Yorkshire Phoenix can provide equipment for special Subbuteo events, such as company team bonding evenings or pub nights. Below is a picture of some of the guests having a go at a recent sportsmans dinner in Huddersfield.

 

 

Our members act as both referee and coach, guiding novice players in both techniques and tactics.
